Avoid Internet Pornography

1 minute read

In the JW Broadcasting program of May 2020, Brother Stephen Lett quoted 1 Corinthians 14:20 “be young children as to badness”. He kindly reminded us that “like children, we don’t want to gain knowledge or experience in what is bad. For example, when it comes to pornography, we want no experience whatsoever.”

Basically, the best way to block pornography from the internet is to be faithful to Jehovah (Job 31:1.) Well, some good Internet filters would help too.

Setup a DNS from one of the providers below will help to block pornography to your router, and internet browsing devices.

  1. Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 for Families

    • 1.1.1.3 (IPv4)
    • 1.0.0.3 (IPv4)
    • 2606:4700:4700::1113 (IPv6)
    • 2606:4700:4700::1003 (IPv6)

    Protip: 1.1.1.1 is the fastest public DNS resolver.

  2. Adguard DNS Family Protection

    • 176.103.130.132 (IPv4)
    • 176.103.130.134 (IPv4)
    • 2a00:5a60::bad1:0ff (IPv6)
    • 2a00:5a60::bad2:0ff (IPv6)
    • dns-family.adguard.com (DNS-over-TLS)

    Protip: Adguard DNS blocks ads as well.

  3. CleanBrowsing Family Filter

    • 185.228.168.10 (IPv4)
    • 185.228.169.11 (IPv4)
    • 2a0d:2a00:1::1 (IPv6)
    • 2a0d:2a00:2::1 (IPv6)
    • adult-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.org (DNS-over-TLS)
    • https://doh.cleanbrowsing.org/doh/family-filter/ (DNS over HTTPS)
  4. Neustar Recursive DNS Family Secure

    • 156.154.70.3 (IPv4)
    • 156.154.71.3 (IPv4)
    • 2610:a1:1018::3 (IPv6)
    • 2610:a1:1019::3 (IPv6)
  5. Yandex DNS Family

    • 77.88.8.7 (IPv4)
    • 77.88.8.3 (IPv4)
    • 2a02:6b8::feed:a11 (IPv6)
    • 2a02:6b8:0:1::feed:a11 (IPv6)

These are not all the DNS services in the world, but the ones that are free to use, can protect you from Adult content and support at lease IPv4 and IPv6 addresses (that we have known).

You can test each one to find out the one that is fastest or fit your need at best. While using at home, perhaps the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are enough.

Starting with Android 9, DNS over TLS works natively and it can help to protect your cellular network on the go. At the writing time, Adguard DNS Family Protection and CleanBrowsing Family Filter are two that support DNS over TLS.

iOS does not give you a way to manually change the DNS for cellular network yet. Maybe, you need to download an app to do that.
